Cibl Hall Akin, died Thursday October 2, 2008 at Savannah Square under the care of Hospice Savannah. She was born in Atlanta, GA and lived in Philadelphia, PA, Augusta, GA and North Augusta, SC before moving to Savannah to retire to Savannah Square.
She graduated from LaGrange College, LaGrange, GA. Mrs. Akin taught elementary school, mostly fourth grade, for 30 years in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Augusta, GA. She retired after more than 25 years from the Richmond County, GA School System.
In North Augusta she was a member of the Rosemary Chapter of Eastern Star, a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a leader in the HILL & DALE Garden Club. Her passion was collecting dolls and she was a member and officer in the Augusta Doll Club. She loved arts and crafts and singing in a church choir. In Savannah she was a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Hall, Sr. and Jewel Connell Hall.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles L. Akin, of Savannah, son and daughter-in-law, Robert Bob and Teresa Teri Sawyer Akin, of Savannah, and two grandsons, Jeremy Hall Akin and Marshall Bailey Akin, both of Savannah. She is also survived by two sisters, Jill Hall Bean, of Richmond Hill, GA and Imyl Hall Rice, of Cumming, GA.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Frank Parr officiating.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Greenhouse Project of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, 412 Parkersburg Road, Savannah, GA 31406.
